Hi everyone! For today’s post, I’m back with another Taste Review and we will be taste testing the fruit off of none other than the Micro Tom Micro Dwarf Tomato, one of the smallest growing tomato plants in the world. I harvested these tomatoes from my grow tent where I was filming this plant’s progress for a time lapse video; if you haven’t seen that one yet, head on over and take a look at the link! >> Here <<

Micro Tom Micro Dwarf Tomato Taste Review
Smell: Once cut open, you can smell the richness ooze out of these red pearls. They smell like a garden-grown red tomato; very tomatoey!
Skin or Peel: The skin on these tomatoes is a little on the thicker/tougher side than other varieties I’ve grown, however, not to any degree of unpleasantness; I found it to be crunchy with a nice tart tomato taste to it, and easily breaks down with the rest of the tomato as you consume it.
Inside Texture: I was really surprised at the inside texture of these tomatoes because I had grown them before under worse conditions and I always found the texture to be mealy; this time around, the plant enjoyed its environment and they were not mealy at all! I thought of them as very pleasant to eat; juicy, crisp, and meaty.
Sweetness: I cannot say that I found the Micro Toms to be sweet at all, so if that’s what you’re looking for in a cherry tomato, then these are definitely not it…They had an average Brix score of 7%.
Acidity: These tomatoes are acidic! Like 5/5, to the point that Rory, my dog, had a little trouble going for it at first. “Where’s my Sun Gold?!“…I personally love that we can have both sweet and acidic tomatoes to be able to enjoy the variety, and I found their acidity rather pleasant.
Tomato Flavor: I could not believe my taste buds when they came in contact with one of these tiny red delicacies. The richness, the aroma, the lycopene, the flavor, the UMAMI, UGH! This was so surprising to me, especially having grown this variety before, I was expecting what I was used to, some mealy watered-down tomato. Not at all! Amazing flavor, one worth growing this plant again for. 5/5
Seeds: Some of these tomatoes had a medium amount of seeds while others did not have very many, so on average I’d say that these are not very seedy at all; at the very least, I did not even feel them while eating any of these tomatoes. I’ll give them a 2/5 on seed count.
Mars Hydro Indoor Grow Kit
The Micro Tom Micro Dwarf Tomato plant seen in this video grew inside of this Mars Hydro grow tent; I’ve been using it for a while now and I am thankful for how well it has worked out for me. The LED light works extremely well, even under a recording camera (no banding), and the environment this tent provides really makes filming and growing these plants a breeze.
I really hope you enjoyed watching this video and skimming through this post! Rory thought that the tomatoes were too acidic for him, but he still ate the small piece anyways. I on the other hand, was pleasantly surprised by how well this variety grew and tasted for me this time around; I highly recommend adding this one to your seed collection if you love acidic tomatoey-tasting tomatoes. You won’t regret it! I will be making more videos like these in the future so head on over andSubscribe on YouTube so that you don’t miss out.
